Condition:

Oil on unlined canvas, not examined out of the frame. On the reverse there is a 7 inch vertical patch at lower center and a small square patch at upper center. The surface is in generally fair condition, aside from a few isolated pin dot accretions; a 5 inch diagonal varnish scuff on the cloak at lower left; and a visible vertical repair extending the height of head scarf at upper center. Under UV light, the surface is obscured by a heavy green-fluorescing varnish, though faint, brushy restoration to aforementioned head scarf repair with two dots of inpainting close to it; an older, brushy repair extending from the neck down below the pinky finger (corresponding to patch); a few isolated brushy dots and small areas of retouching on the black cloak and in lower corners; and a small cluster of dotted retouches in background at upper right are visible. Framed in a gold frame with floral motifs and ready to hang in its current state. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale.
